INTRODUCTION

The third annual Shorts International Film Festival will be held November 8-10 1999 with an awards ceremony on the 11th at the Sony Theatres Lincoln Square, 68th Street and Broadway, New York City.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • The entry fee per film is $25.00.
  • The deadline for submission of materials is September 13, 1999.
  • Film prints of selected entries are due no later than October 23, 1999.
  • A VHS copy of your film accompanied by a signed and completed entry form for each film must be submitted to:

  • In order to qualify, all films must have been completed after January 1, 1998.
  • All non-English entries must be in their original language with English subtitles.
  • Films must be 40 minutes or less.
  • All entries must arrive with a self-addressed stamped envelope for return of cassette(s).
  • The initial cost of shipping prints must be paid by the sender. However, Shorts International Film Festival will pay for the return shipping of the selected prints.
  • All prints that will be screened must be either 35MM or 16MM with an optical soundtrack.
  • Participants should contact Shorts International Film Festival regarding the status of their film(s).

AWARDS

  • Categories are Animation, Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Experimental, and Student.
  • Grand prize: $2,000 for best director in each category.

INSTRUCTIONS

1) For judging purposes, please submit a VHS tape only, along with one black and white still for each submission and one of the director, and a publicity pack (printed in English - if available).

2) Finished format must be either 16MM or 35MM for festival screenings.

3) Films must be 40 minutes or less.

4) Submit a synopsis of your film of 500 words or less on a separate sheet of paper and attach it to this completed form.

5) Individual entry fee is $25.00. Make checks payable to: Shorts International Film Festival.

6) For return of your video cassette, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope. This applies to American entries only.

7) **Deadline for film submission is September 13, 1999.**

All entries will be viewed by a pre-selection committee appointed by Shorts International Film Festival. Participants should contact Shorts International Film Festival regarding the status of their film(s).

In the event you are selected as best director in a category, you agree to allow Shorts International Film Festival to showcase your film in selected SONY/Loews Theatres in several cities across the United States.
